Michael A. Cano, AIF®
Founder and Principal, Cano Wealth Strategies, LLC
With more than 20 years of wealth management experience, Michael is an independent financial advisor who works with both individuals in or near retirement and successful professionals and entrepreneurs, as well as small- to mid-size businesses. He and his team at Cano Wealth Strategies build long-term relationships based on trust, knowledge, industry experience, and the drive to do what is best for each client given his or her unique financial condition.
Michael believes that wealth management is a process and approaches that process by gaining clarity about a client’s current situation. He does this by identifying core values, defining future goals, and developing a flexible strategy that allows clients to reach their objectives. Without obligation to any proprietary products, he is able to make decisions in his clients' best interest. Committed to ongoing client support, Michael conducts regular reviews to make sure a client’s plan remains on course to meet future goals.
Michael is a first generation American who grew up in blue-collar Bristol, Connecticut, where he learned early that hard work and honesty would provide him an advantage wherever he worked. This work ethic allowed him to achieve the American dream his parents so deeply wanted for him. After earning a business degree at Dean College, his lifetime passion for finance and entrepreneurship led him to the financial services industry. In 2006, he founded Cano Wealth Strategies, LLC.
Michael holds his FINRA Series 7, 63, 65, 24, and 53 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network®. In an effort to provide a high fiduciary standard of excellence, he earned his Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation and is a member of the Financial Services Institute.
Michael formerly served the MidJersey Chamber of Commerce as chairman and most recently as interim president. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the MidJersey Chamber of Commerce and Hispanics Inspiring Student Performance and Achievement (HISPA). He also serves as treasurer for HISPA. Michael lives in East Windsor, New Jersey, with his wife and business partner, Katie and their three daughters, ages 18, 16, and 9 years old. Michael is passionate about soccer and plays almost year round. If for some reason he isn’t on the pitch, you can find him exploring new roads on his Harley Davidson. His favorite place to ride and spend time with his family is at the lake in Otis, Massachusetts. He is so happy his kids love to be there as much as he did as a teenager.
Katie H. Cano
Director of Client Services
Here at Cano Wealth Strategies, Katie Cano is our problem solver, communications specialist, and key organizer! As director of client services, her technical skills have become an invaluable part of the business.
Katie grew up in Hopewell, New Jersey. After graduating from Boston University and starting a career in physical therapy in Baltimore, Maryland, she married Michael and moved to East Windsor, New Jersey. They started a family with a commitment to balancing career and children with grace and determination. Katie hasn’t missed a beat when it comes to raising their three daughters: Caroline, Sarah, and Elizabeth.
With Michael’s vision of a private practice now a reality, it is very evident Katie’s new expertise is wealth management. When a client has a question, Katie has the answer. She works closely with Michael regarding internal office workflow and is involved with the accounting, marketing, and compliance areas of the firm. She also serves as the key contact for retirement plans.
While Katie loves spending time with her family and friends, when she needs some quiet time, she heads to her garden or opens a book.
Client Service Associate
Beth joined the Cano Wealth Strategies team in February 2017, bringing significant experience in banking and finance to the firm. Beth’s well-defined administrative skillset, exceptional attention to detail, and personable nature make her everyone’s favorite go-to person. She understands the importance of time, which is often our most valuable commodity. Beth is counted on to bring efficiency to everything she does, including scheduling, meeting preparation, and follow-up workflow. She maintains and updates client records daily. Her best qualities are her commitment to accuracy and confidentiality, as well as her dedication to the best interests of our clients.
Outside the office, Beth enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She is an active volunteer in the school PTO and a regular fan at her children’s sporting events. She often can be found at the gym. She enjoys attending her monthly book club meetings, and music concerts with friends can always be found on her calendar!
Beth grew up in Long Island, New York. Having always lived on or near the water, her favorite activities usually happen at the beach or on a boat. Since moving to New Jersey in 2001, she has found the Jersey Shore to remind her of home.
